![]() When he had the wounded sheriff close to him, the sheriff pulled out a knife. Reeling him off his horse, Caleb dodged the shots from the other sheriffs as well as he could, hiding behind a big rock. He shot at a sheriff coming up close to him, and the spear hit him in the leg. Caleb had no time to think how in the hell you could aim with a revolver from that up high. The other sheriffs seemed to finally understand what was happening, and started blasting their guns at Caleb and the tower. Taking down sheriffs as if it was a hobby you had picked up on. There you were, sitting in the bell tower, revolver out. This time, Caleb looked behind him and gazed upwards. The next sheriff fell off his horse with a scream. Caleb furrowed his brows and looked behind him. A shot rang out loud in the evening, and the sheriff fell off his horse instantly. Aiming his Redeemer at the nearest sheriff, he was about to shoot a spear through his stomach, but something interrupted him. If they did, O’Sullivan would make quick work of them. Caleb wasn’t a religious man, but he was going to honour your wish and not let them get into the church. And there they came riding, the sheriffs. The sun was starting to set behind the hills. The air was clear outside, it had been raining. O’Sullivan was about to start protesting, but Caleb had already left through the main door. “Keep the church”, he said to O’Sullivan. He readied his Redeemer and walked towards the main door. “Keep them out of the church! I won’t have no shootout in the house of the Lord”, you ordered, and then you disappeared out back.Ĭaleb heard the sound of hooves approaching, voices yelling in the distance. “Where you going?” O’Sullivan yelled, but you just gave him a quick look back. “Good, give them a chance at least”, you said, adjusting your hat.Ĭaleb furrowed his brows and was about to tell you your odds, but you turned heels and jogged towards the backdoor. “They’ve gotten backup”, he informed you, but not even this seemed to dampen your spirit. “Here they come!” O’Sullivan declared, readying his shotgun at the window.Ĭaleb looked out the other window, seeing at least a dozen sheriffs in the far distance, approaching quickly on their horses. But damn it, if he wasn’t going to go out with a bang, by your side. Three outlaws, hobbled up in an empty church, against a wave of sheriffs hunting them. I’ll sleep with no regrets.”Ĭaleb shook his head slightly. “Well I hope it was all worth it, Y/N”, he said, and Caleb watched as you readied your revolver. O’Sullivan grunted, running up to one of the windows to take cover for the incoming shootout. No matter the situation, you always managed to have a grin on your lips, not letting anything get to you. “I just think it’s a little bit ironic, ya know? Killing father David and then ending up here of all places, with the sheriffs after us.”Ĭaleb loved that about you. You shook your head, the grin still on your lips. “Well, someone seems to be happy with this day”, he chuckled, looking at you. “Who knew these bastard sheriffs would be on our trail already?” O’Sullivan said, reloading his shotgun.Ĭaleb threw a gaze in your direction, catching a small grin on your lips. Funnily enough, you found yourselves locked up in an empty church at the moment. Drawing the life out of the priest had been the easy part. So Caleb was there, by your side, keeping guard while you dealt with father David. You had seemed to know what needed to be done, talking about “justice being served” and “the good Lord knows”. This had to be one of the craziest quests Caleb had ever been on, but he was damn willing to see it through. ![]()
